eCommerce SEO Tip #006

Theres more to Search Engine Optimization than Keywords

Sure, choosing the right keyword set to compete for is central to eCommerce Search Engine success, but we assure you it’s but a slice of the whole pie. Targeting the perfect keyword set will ultimately be a losing battle if your E-Business is not built upon valid coding fundamentals, proper domain registration, and congruency across the web.

There are many ways to write a webpage and some ways are more Search-Engine friendly than others. Antiquated practices such as tables and <b> tags for bold don’t do much for validity in the eyes of search engine crawlers (The machines that index the whole internet for search engines). So in Essence, 2 webpages with the same products and keyword sets will rank differently depending on their pages’ foundational coding practices. Contact us, and we’d be happy to consult with you on your site’s fundamentals.

Similarly, having your domain public and with registered to the business owner personally, will do much for crawler’s perception of validity of the site. Also- the more online directory listings on which your site is listed the better. Not only does this provide inbound links, but congruent a phone number, e-mail address, and physical address information will do well for your E-Business’s validity.

Once all these foundational practices are complete, and the site is valid across the web, then it is time to begin competing for the key phrases that are going to get your customers’ attention on the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages). If this is your first time looking for large scale web-success, we recommend you consult with professionals when settling on the most efficient keyword set. At IntuitSolutions, We have the tools and experience to find which keywords will give your web presence the most visibility and therefore success while taking into account search volume and competition. Often times, the search engine’s keyword tools give advice that prioritize their own benefit before yours when providing suggested keyword sets.
